80th Anniversary – 2008.
The 80th Anniversary of the flight was celebrated by private aero-philatelic collectors and began a phase of regular commemoration by that interest group.
75th Anniversary – 2003.
In 2003 the German Government commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the flight with a stamp issue. The occasion was also celebrated by private aero-philatelic enthusiasts.
The “Goodwill Tour”.
After being feted in New York and Washington the aviators went on a “Goodwill Tour” of the eastern United States where they were welcomes as heroes by throngs of well-wishers. Aero-philatelic collectors pulled out all the stops to memorialise the visits.
50th Anniversary – 1978.
In 1978 the Irish Government issued what turned out to be a very popular stamp depicting the “Bremen” in flight over the ocean. Hungary also issued a stamp that year.
